Ready Steady Riders are working to change the way children learn to ride a bike. Why?
Because stabilisers simply do not work.
Stabilisers teach children to pedal, which is a secondary skill (propulsion). Think about it… how much
pedalling does a downhill mountain bike rider do?
Balance bikes turn the old stabiliser teaching method on its head, and it works. By taking away the
complication of pedals and brake levers, and presenting children with a light weight bike that’s
ergonomically designed for the smallest of people, children are able to focus on the core skills
required to ride a bike, balance and coordination.
Once the balance and control are mastered our riders make the transition to pedals seamlessly, once they get those feet going around in the right direction there’s no stopping them!
